Story

Juhannus was one of those moments where you start to understand Finland a little better without anyone explaining it. We headed out in the evening toward one of the open spots near Oulu where people gather for the midsummer celebrations. The atmosphere was calm but full of life at the same time - groups of friends, families, quiet conversations, and everyone waiting for the same thing. As the night slowly settled in, the sky never really went dark, just softened into that long, endless northern light that makes time feel slower.

When the bonfire was lit, everything shifted. People moved closer, the warmth from the fire cutting through the cool air, and there was this shared silence for a moment as everyone just watched it burn. It wasn't loud or chaotic - it felt intentional, almost like a pause in the middle of the year. Standing there, watching the fire by the water, it felt simple and grounded. No rush, no noise, just a night that stayed with you a little longer than usual.
